Cases against six policemen, SDO ordered

SAHIWAL, Aug 9: The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment director ordered registration of cases against six policemen, an irrigation SDO, a section officer, an overseer and two municipal administration officials of Chichawatni sub-division.

Reports said that Yousafwala sub-inspector Imdad Ali Naseem had taken Rs3,000 in bribe from Nazir Ahmed of Chak 82/5-L. While Kassowal ASI Ali Sher received Rs10,000 in bribe from Bashir Ahmed of Chak 117/12-L.

Similarly, Chichawatni SI Fayyaz Ahmed took illegal gratification of Rs42,000 from Sardar of Chichawatni.

Traffic inspector Nazir Ahmed also took Rs5,300 in bribe from truck driver Riaz Ahmed of Chak 138/9-L while Kassowal SI Muhammad Aslam received a bribe of Rs10,500 from Iqbal of Mauza Hashim Ghakar.

Deepalpur Irrigation SDO Ali Yawar, section officer Tahir Ali and overseer Munawar Hussain Haider misappropriated huge funds.

Chichawatni tehsil municipal officers — Tariq Javed and Arshad Kiyani along with sub-engineer Rashid had embezzled funds while carrying out some development work in Block-16.

Residents of Block 16, Zafar Iqbal and others, had lodged complaints against these officials.

MQM: Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Environment and Information Technology Muhammad Nauman Sehgal has said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) through a re-organisational committee had launched its introductory campaign in Punjab some two years back

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said presently the MQM had established its offices in some 30 districts in Punjab.

He claimed that at least 450 elected councillors in Punjab had extended their cooperation by joining the MQM.

About contesting the next year’s elections throughout

the Punjab independently, he said decision in this regard would be taken by the

party’s Central Liaison Committee.

The advisor also announced a seven-member committee for Sahiwal on the occasion.
