SUKKUR, Aug 9: District Coordination Officer Shafique Ahmed Khoso advised on Wednesday the inhabitants of katcha areas and Bunder Wall in Sukkur city to shift immediately to safer places or the nearest relief camps set up by the district.
He said that the Irrigation Department had informed that a high flood was expected to pass Sukkur through Indus River between August 11 to 16.
The district’s Civil Defence Office has established a control room with telephone No 9310543 which will remain operative round the clock. Ali Anwar Naich would be the in-charge of control room.
The additional controller of Civil Defence, M B Abbasi, announced that in view of alarming situation, the warden posts located on Bunder Road (A-4, B-4 & C-3) would remain open round the clock.
He advised all the volunteers to report at the nearest warden post of their group, said an official handout.—Correspondent
