Marksmen aim to excel at SA Games

KARACHI, Aug 8: Pakistani marksmen are confident and looking forward to return with flying colours from the 10th South Asian Games being held at Colombo from Aug 18 to 28.

‘They have honed their shooting skills during one and a half month training tour of China under the supervision of Chinese coaches,” secretary, National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP), Khalid Javed said on Tuesday.

The 12-member squad including five ladies have returned from China recently and re-assembled in a camp which is currently underway at PN shooting range.

The two Chinese coaches who accompanied the shooters on the trip have also arrived with them and are supervising their training.

The 22-member shooting team which includes seven lady shooters will fly to Colombo in the second batch on Aug 17. They will be assisted by the two foreign experts and a Pakistani coach Razi Ahmed Khan.

As many as 26 golds, as many silvers and bronze medals will be at stake in 13 individual and team events of different categories.

Khalid Javed and Col Abbas Raza have been nominated on jury of the games.
