GUJRANWALA, Aug 8: Two sisters drowned in a drain in Naushera Virkan on Tuesday.
Reports said Rabia, 6, and Liaba, 4, daughters of Muhammad Asghar, were missing from the house. The family searched them but could not trace the girls. Later, some passers-by informed the family that clothes of two minor girls were lying on the bank of the village drain. Their bodies were recovered from the drain.
TORTURE CELLS: A scam of setting up private torture cells by general bus stand parking fee contractor and his musclemen came to surface while the DPO ordered an inquiry here on Tuesday.
The general bus stand administration awarded the contract of recovery of fee from public transport vehicle owners who used general bus stand. But the contractor reportedly set up pickets at Chand da Qila bypass, Sialkot bypass, Rawalpindi bypass and Khidi bypass intersections besides other parts of city and started recovery from transporters in the name of parking fee with the help of his musclemen. He reportedly constituted his private torture cells at secret places where those drivers of vehicles were beaten up who denied to pay fee outside general bus stand jurisdiction.
It is stated that the contractor and his men have been recovering manifold fee from them.
Gujranwala Transport Federa-tion president Mian Ilyas protested against it and presented a memorandum to DPO Mian Asif requesting him to take legal action against the contractor. — Correspondent
