Sit-in planned for Wage Award

KARACHI, Aug 8: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and the All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation announced on Tuesday that they would stage a sit-in in front of the Prime Minister’s House on September 15 in protest against the non-implementation of the 7th Wage Board Award.

A PFUJ press release says that the decision was taken during a three-day meeting of the Federal Executive Council and the National Executive Council in Peshawar.

“PFUJ and APNEC have also decided to observe a ‘demands’ day’ on Aug 22 when protest camps will be set up in all major cities,” says the press release.

The two bodies held the government responsible for the delay in the implementation of the Wage Board Award and for its failure to constitute the eighth Wage Board Award.
