KARACHI, Aug 8: A six-day training course in physiology commenced at the Department of Physiology, University of Karachi here on Tuesday. A KU statement said that the vice-chancellor, Dr Pirzada Qasim, inaugurated the course.
It said that the event was facilitated by the University of Karachi and funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan.
This training programme will include lectures from experts from all over the country, who will impart training to the participants, in twenty four sessions spread over a week.
According to Dr Pirzada, this department is the only one that caters teaching and research at all the degree levels, graduate, masters, MPhil, PhD, in this country and it is the only institution having such programmes in physiology.
The other one is at the Sindh University, Jamshoro, where undergraduate programme has been recently established, he informed.
This training programme is the first of its kind in physiology, which is equally important in both the medical and basic sciences.
After the inaugural session, the resource person, Prof Dr Asmat Ansari conducted lectures in on various topics in two sessions.—APP
