SIALKOT, Aug 7: At least 13 more villages and standing crops on hundreds of the acres of land in Pasrur tehsil were inundated on Monday after the overflowing of Nullah Dek near Chahoor village due to incessant heavy rains in all catchment areas.
Pasrur XEN Syed Khadim Hussain Shah told reporters that the spilled water had started entering the populated area, forcing the people to shift to safer places.
He said that inundated villages included Chahoor, Jabbokey, Nawaadey, Chak Machhana, Doda and Chak Loharan.
Several unpaved houses and outhouse had also been collapsed in the flood-hit areas. However, no casualty had been reported.
He said the traffic on Chahoor-Nawaadey-Jabbokey Road had been suspended as it was damaged badly.
The Sialkot DCO said the water level was continuously rising in rivers Chenab and Tavi and seasonal Nullahs Dek, Aik, Bhed and Palkhu.
GUJRANWALA: The district government on Monday alerted all government functionaries in the wake of expected flood in 267 villages.
For this purpose, some 19 relief camps have also been set up at Kamoki and Wazirabad tehsils with reserve of medicines and food for one-and-a-half-month.
According to reports, the water was rising in river Chenab, Head Khaneki, Head Marala, Qadirabad and Nullah Pulkho while a high-level meeting, presided over by District Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha, reviewed the flood situation.
The meeting decided to arrange 13 boats which would carry out evacuation of stranded people under the supervision of army personnel.
DCO Manzer Hayat, DPO Mian Muhammad Asif and heads of other government functionaries also attended the meeting.
MANDI BAHAUDDIN: About a dozen localities awash with flood water in Phalia tehsil on Sunday night after three lakh cusecs of water passed from river Chenab at Head Qadirabad.
No casualty was reported from anywhere.
While the outhouse of Nazar Muhammad at Chak Abdullah was submerged by the floodwater on Monday morning. The outhouse collapsed as soon as the family was rescued by the local people.
