NEW DELHI, Aug 7: India is ranked as the sixth most dangerous place for children, after Sudan, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq and Somalia, the Indian parliament was told on Monday.
Minister of State for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury told the Rajya Sabha that the survey conducted by Reuters AlterNet placed India behind war-torn Afghanistan, Palestinian territories, Myanmar and Chechnya.
The website asked more than 110 aid experts and journalists to highlight the most dangerous places for children.
Key facts that were considered for the survey included factors such as children involved in armed conflict, the trauma experienced by children caught up in violence and children living in poverty and forced to work.
