KARACHI, Aug 7: Shipping activity remained active at Port Qasim where three ships carrying containers and edible oil were accommodated on berths at QICT and Multi Purpose Terminal, respectively, on Sunday. Departures were fairly brisk where four ships, three container ships and one oil tanker sailed during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, two more ships with furnace oil and chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage during the same day.
Berth occupancy was maintained at 67 per cent at the port. A total of nine ships San Clemente, Oel Asihwarya, MOL Accord, MOL Silver Fern, MSC London, MV Precious, MV Constantinos-G, MV Yong Xiang-9 and MT Kisogawa are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, sugar and edible oil, respectively, during the report period.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 37,331 tons comprising 20,454 tons import cargo and 16,877 tons export cargo, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,545 containers (Teus) was handled at the port.
Four ships San Clemente, Oel Asihwarya, MOL Accord and MT Trust Spirit sailed out to sea during the report period.—APP
