New voters’ list to be published on May 30

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: The process of distribution and collection of voter enrolment forms would be completed by Sept 11, said Election Commission secretary Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad here on Sunday.

He said the process had been started on July 29, adding that after collection of the forms, assistant registration officers would complete their work by Oct 6.

Door-to-door enumeration of households for preparing new electoral rolls had been started on July 14, and completed on July 28.

Mr Dilshad said final electoral rolls would be published on May 30, 2007.

He said a team of 144 registration officers, 2,237 assistant registration officers, 28,992 supervisors and 86,740 enumerators had been trained for the enumeration process. Around 500 judges of local courts would be appointed at district level to hear complaints and objections, he added.

He said assistant election commissioners deployed at every district were working as registration officers, and assistant registration officers, supervisors and enumerators had been deployed from the education department.—APP
