GUJRANWALA, Aug 6: Two brothers drowned in a canal while taking a bath on Sunday on Sheikhupura Road.
Reports said Gulfam Masih and Imran Masih went to take a bath in the canal on Darghahiwala bridge and drowned. Divers recovered their bodies after two-hour long efforts.
In another incident, a minor girl was electrocuted in civil line area. Salma was playing in her house. Suddenly she touched an electric wire and died on the spot.
POLICE FAILURE: Police could not recover a dispenser of Ladheywala Warriach who had been kidnapped for ransom about 10 days ago.
Reports said Naseer Ahmed had friendship with kiln worker Merjan Khan of Peshawar. The latter took the former to Peshawar in connection with the marriage ceremony of his sister some 10 days ago. Later, Merjan held him hostage and demanded a ransom of Rs1.5 million from his family. Naseer’s father Muhammad Ashraf sent Multan Khan, a friend of Merjan, to Peshawer in this regard. On return, Mr Multan told the family that the accused had threatened to kill Naseer if Rs800,000 as ransom were not paid to him.
