Volunteers start relief work

CHARSADDA, Aug 6: On NWFP government’s request, the volunteers of National Volunteer Movement (NVM) on Sunday started relief operations in the flood-hit areas of Charsadda in coordination with other organisations.

“The NVM has transported a truckload of flour, medicines and other relief goods to the area. A mobile medical unit has also started functioning to avert the outbreak of epidemics,” NVM Deputy Chairman Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif told PPI during his visit to the flood-affected areas.

He inspected the Zeeshano Baba medical camp and reviewed the relief work.

“In this hour of tragedy, the flood victims will not be left alone, and all possible measures will be taken to mitigate their sufferings,” Barrister Saif said while appreciating the performance of the NVM volunteers as well as locals.

On the occasion, prominent social figure of NWFP Dr Iftikhar Zaidi and NVM Deputy Director Abu Zafar Sadiq informed Barrister Saif that the mobile medical unit had so far treated over 1,000 patients in Faqirabad, Garhi Kakakhel and Zeeshano Baba.
