KARACHI: Karachi receives more rain

KARACHI, Aug 6: The second major spell of downpour in the current monsoon in the city started on Sunday with scattered rain across the city and the local Meteorological Department has forecast more rain on Monday.

It started raining in the afternoon and the Met Office recorded an average 8.9mm rain till 8pm at its five observatories in the city.

Met Office said that 8mm rain was measured at the airport observatory, 1mm at PAF Masroor Base, 20mm at Faisal Base, 6.2mm at North Karachi and 9.4mm at Model observatory.

The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 28.5 degree Celsius whereas the minimum temperature was 27.2°C with 88 per cent humidity.

For Monday, the Met Office has forecast mostly cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rain and thundershower across the city with maximum temperature ranging between 28 and 30 degree Celsius.

The first major spell had continued for three days, starting July 30, during which the rain lashed the entire city.
