KARACHI, Aug 6: President of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Qazi Hussain Ahmad has wondered that while Israel is continuing with its military onslaught, eliminating hundreds of innocent civilians who include small children, the western countries and international community are not able to stop its aggression.
For weeks together, Israeli jets artillery and weapons of mass destruction have been strafing Lebanese and Palestinian territories without being checked by any power on earth, he observed, concluding that not only the United States, but European countries were also at its side in targeting Muslim population and turning Muslim countries into ruins and rubble. He condemned the US and West for arming and helping Israel to accomplish the task of weakening the Ummah.
The MMA chief was delivering a telephonic address at a ceremony held at Jamia Hanifa here on Sunday on the occasion of the completion of Bokhari Sharif.
He regretted that the OIC had disappointed Muslims around the world who had pinned great hopes with its recent meeting on the Middle East crisis.
The Muslim rulers at the meeting had only proved their incompetence by surrendering to the US-Israel pressure and earned the Ummah shame, he observed, pointing out that the unarmed Palestinians and Lebanese citizens had been resisting the reign of terror let loose by the Zionist state, which was equipped with all sophisticated military hardware and technologies.
Paying tributes to Hizbullah and Hamas for showing unimaginable courage and steadfastness in the war imposed by Israel with full support from the US, he said people of all Muslim countries were with the oppressed Palestinians and Lebanese in this hour or trial and tribulation and were ready to fight side-by-side them against the colonial powers and Zionist regime.
Speaking on the occasion, Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, Karachi, Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui declared that the pro-US rulers, striving hard to cripple madressahs and centres of Islamic learning would never succeed in their nefarious designs.
Paying tributes to the Lebanese and Palestinian resistance movements, he observed that it was faith and spirit of the fighters through which they had been giving a tough time to an enemy much stronger than their organisations.
Shaikhul Quran and Hadees Maulana Abdul Malik , Dr Mumtaz Memon and Sajid Anwar also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a rally was held outside the Karachi Press Club on Sunday to condemn the Israeli aggression and Lebanon and Palestinians.
Speakers at the rally stressed unity of Ummah, saying that it was the only key to foiling the conspiracies being hatched by Zionist and imperialist forces against Islam and Muslims.
Vice-President of MMA, Sindh, Allama Qambar Abbas Naqvi said that the Israel brutalities in Lebanon had revived the Karbala tragedy. He accused President Bush of assigning Israel the task of genocide of Muslims. Allama Naqvi said that after failing in its designs to trigger a Shia-Sunni clash in Lebanon, Israel had resorted to launching the onslaught. He also criticised Gen Pervez Musharraf for supporting and promoting US policies, hence harming the interests of Ummah around the world.
