Woman killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Aug 6: A woman was killed and 17 other people including six policemen were wounded on Sunday in a grenade attack by freedom fighters in a busy town in held Kashmir, police said.

The attack on a police patrol happened in the town of Sopore, 50km north of Srinagar.

“Six policemen and a dozen bystanders were hurt in the explosion triggered by militants,” a police spokesman said, adding the attackers managed to escape.

“One of the injured women later died in hospital,” he said.—AFP
