PGF chalks out hectic schedule for next season

KARACHI, Aug 5: The prestigious 72-hole Asian Tour Pakistan Open Golf Championship carrying handsome prize money will be played at Karachi Golf Club from Jan 19 to 22 next year.

The Asian Tour is among the 35 competitions drawn by the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) for the 2006-7 golfing season which got underway with the commencement of 11th CNS Open Golf Championship.

England’s Chris Rodgers captured the US $200,000 Asian Tour by four strokes after being revived by the PGF earlier this year.

Another important feature is hosting of Indo-Pak Golf competition at Islamabad Golf Club from Nov 23 to 26. Pakistan won the event staged at Lahore in 2004 while India avenged the defeat when they played host at Banglore last year.

The calendar culminates with the hosting of President of Pakistan gold medal at Islamabad Golf Club from May 4 to 6 next.
