KARACHI, Aug 5: At least 62 people were deprived of their cars, motorbikes or cellphones in various parts of the city on Saturday.
Police sources said that the bandits took away 18 vehicles – eight cars and 10 motorbikes – from different areas. One car was hijacked and seven others were stolen. Five motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint and equal number of motorcycles was stolen.
They said that 44 people were deprived of their cellphones. Twenty-six people reported that unidentified bandits snatched cellphones, cash and belongings from them at gunpoint while 18 others said that their mobile phones were stolen.
KILLED: A man killed his brother-in-law at the latter’s residence over some family row in Orangi Town on Saturday.
Police said that Izzat Khan came to the residence of his in-laws as he wanted to take his wife back. After an exchange of words, he axed to death his brothers-in-law Fazal and injured Saleem.
In another incident, Fazal, 22, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his doorstep in Sultanabad in Jackson police limits.
ACCIDENT: A man died after he was hit by a bus in Gulberg.
Police said Mohammad Tahir was hit while crossing Shahrah-i-Pakistan. The body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy.
