KARACHI: Two die in accident; woman shot dead

KARACHI, Aug 4: Two persons were crushed when a container being transported on a lorry fell on their car at Qayumabad intersection on Friday.

Among the dead was the son of former Jamshed town nazim, police said.

Quoting the statement of eyewitnesses, police said that a container which was being transported on a trailer fell on the car (AGX-019) at Qayumabad intersection resulting in the death of Amir Parekh, 35, and his driver. Their bodies were shifted to the Jinnah hospital for legal formalities.

Police employed cranes to remove the container from the car which was almost flattened in the accident. Police said that driver of the long-vehicle escaped following the accident.

SHOT DEAD: A young woman was shot dead in Defence View on Friday morning.

A duty officer of Baloch Colony police station said that Shahida Parveen, 30, resident of Defence View, was boarding her office vehicle around 8am when two suspects on a motorcycle shot at her and fled. She was rushed to Jinnah hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The victim was an employee of a shipping company.

Naveed Ahmed, brother of the deceased, lodged an FIR at the police station nominating three relatives of the victim’s ex-husband.
