Kasuri upbeat on dialogue resumption

DHAKA, Aug 2: Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri said on Wednesday that Pakistan had a ‘very positive attitude’ towards the resumption of peace talks with India.

Speaking after the close of a South Asian foreign ministers’ meeting in Dhaka, Mr Kasuri said foreign secretary-level peace talks between India and Pakistan, held on the sidelines, were ‘positive’.

“Under the circumstances — after the postponement of the foreign secretaries’ meeting under the composite dialogue – yes, it was a good meeting (on Monday) between the two foreign secretaries,” he said.

Top foreign ministry bureaucrats of both countries reaffirmed their commitment to the peace process after holding talks ahead of the meeting.

The two sides still have not set any dates for resumption of formal talks. But “as far as Pakistan is concerned, we have a very positive attitude (to the talks)”, Mr Kasuri said.—AFP
