KHANEWAL, Aug 2: Seven special stores have been set up in the district to benefit 16,000 deserving families under the ‘Sasta ration scheme’.
District Officer (revenue) Imtiaz Shah said this on Wednesday while inaugurating the scheme at Markazi Bazaar of old Khanewal.
He said the deserving people would get pulses and sugar at Rs10 less than the market price, while a subsidy of Rs28 was also being offered at 10-kg Atta bag as desired by President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
He said the government had given Rs533,000 for this scheme in Khanewal, under which six special stores had been set up in Khanewal city and one in Makhdoompur area.
The deserving people will be able to get four kilogram sugar, two kilogram pulses and 40 kilogram wheat flour every month at subsidized price.—APP
