OKARA, Aug 2: The MMA will not hold dialogue with the government, and Gen Pervez Musharraf may impose martial law in the country or hand over power to some other general.

This was stated by MMA’s Punjab president MNA Liaqat Baloch at an alliance meeting held here to review mass mobilisation in connection with its Aug 14 public meeting to be held at Minar-i-Pakistan.

He said the MQM had blackmailed Gen Musharraf as it was an organization with dubious credibility.

He lashed out at the government for what he called its failure to check lawlessness, dearness, and unemployment.

He said after the Supreme Court verdict on steel mills, the privatisation of Habib Bank, PTCL and other national institutions should also be re-judged.

Those who participated in the meeting include Pir Ijaz Hashmi, Azhar Iqbal Hasan, Dr Liaqat Ali Kusar Farooq Sheikh, Abdullah Yousaf, and Azhar Muhammad.

Later, Mr Baloch called on former MNA and chief of Jamiat-e-Ahle-Hadith Mulana Moeenuddin Lakhvi and JUI(F) naib ameer Mulana Syed Amir Hussain Gillani at their residences.
