RAWALPINDI, Aug 2: Police claimed to have foiled an attempt of sabotage and seized five hand grenades and arrested the accused on Wednesday.

The police said a man dressed in commando uniform and acting suspiciously was spotted by a patrolling police party in the New Town area on Tuesday night. During search, the police recovered five hand grenades, one 30-bore pistol and a dragger from his possession.

The accused was identified as Waqar Ahmed, a resident of Quetta. Police sources said during interrogation the accused said he was against government’s policies because he believed that these were taking the country towards a wrong direction.

The investigators are trying to find out whether the accused had any high value target in Rawalpindi. However, the accused had no link with any religious organisation.
