ISLAMABAD, Aug 2: All office-bearers of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) were re-elected unopposed during the party’s general council meeting here on Wednesday.
Raja Zafarul Haq retained the post of chairman and Shahbaz Sharif was re-elected president of the PML-N. Similarly, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was also elected unopposed as the party’s general secretary.
The results were announced by the five-member Central Election Authority, headed by former finance minister Sartaj Aziz.
The 850-member general council of the PML-N also elected Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Mohammad Ali Khan Hoti, Saranjam Zamindar and Mamnoon Hussain as senior vice-presidents. Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal was elected as additional secretary-general, Ahsan Iqbal as information secretary and Pervez Malik as finance secretary.
