KHANEWAL, Aug 1: An alleged outlaw was killed and a police head constable injured in crossfire near Jehanian on Tuesday. Jehanian police claimed they received information that some persons were firing in the air on Jehanian-Khanewal bypass. SHO Khalid Joiya sent a team to nab the accused, who allegedly opened fire at the police, causing injuries to HC Ijaz Khan. The police returned fire, which killed one of the accused, later identified as Muhammad Asif Pathan of Jehanian. The other two accused, however, managed to escape. The police also claimed to have recovered a pistol from Asif. — APP
