LARKANA, Aug 1: Hundreds of acres of the paddy crop were submerged when a 50-foot breach occurred in the Warah canal near the Ghari regulator on Monday. Villagers said that weak embankments had caused the breach.

They said that officials of the irrigation department were informed about the vulnerability of embankments but they did not care. The breach water had surrounded Ghari Kartiyo and Brohi villages.

The breach occurred on the Monday morning and irrigation officials arrived four hours late.

The villagers with the help of irrigation staff plugged the breach after 12 hours.

PROTEST: Residents of Qambar town on Monday took out processions in protest against Hesco. The protesters were led by councillors Abid Brohi and Mohammed Jan Brohi.

They said that since one week Hesco officials keeping people on false hopes of installing new transformer.

They were demanding money to replace the damaged transformer with new one.

They urged officials concerned to intervene for the restoration of power supply to these localities.
