JALALABAD, July 31: A provincial governor survived a bomb blast that ripped through a parked police car near a mosque in eastern Afghanistan on Monday, killing five policemen and three passers-by. The car exploded as the anti-Taliban governor of Nangarhar province left the mosque on the outskirts of the provincial capital Jalalabad. Five policemen in the car were killed, said an interior ministry spokesman.—AFP
