ABBOTTABAD, July 30: Nine people, four of them women, were killed and three others injured when the jeep they were riding skidded off the road and fell into a ravine near Sirian village, 35 kilometres from here on Sunday afternoon.

The jeep (RIN-4664) was on its way from Nathiagali to Balakot when it met the accident killing nine of the passengers on the spot.

Sources said driver of the jeep lost control over it at a sharp turn near Sirian and plunged into a deep ravine.

Those killed in the accident are Ghani Dad Abbasi, Amjad, Rehan, Master Gulistan, Ms Tanzeela, Ms Riffat, Ms Sobia, Ms Shazia and Waheed.

Three others including jeep driver Faheem, Kiran and Rasheed were injured.

They were taken to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, where condition of two of the injured was stated to be critical.
