VEHARI, July 30: Burewala city police have failed to register a case against a man allegedly involved in kidney trade.

Reports said one Amina Bibi of Ali Town filed a complaint with DPO Malik Tassadaq Hayat during an open katchehry held at Chak 461/Eb about two weeks ago that a local influential, Abdul Aziz Langrial, had allegedly sold her son’s kidney in Rawalpindi. She claimed her son was operated upon at a private hospital for kidney removal.

The DPO appointed ASP Masroor Alam to conduct an inquiry into the matter, ordering him to submit the report within a week. But, despite passage of over 15 days, the ASP could not complete the inquiry.

City SHO Mohammad Nawaz told Dawn the victim’s family had struck the deal to sell kidney with the accused for Rs70,000, and received the first installment of Rs35,000. Now they wanted the remaining amount, he added.

He claimed Burewala police could not register a case against the accused as the kidney was removed in Rawalpindi.and the area police should take appropriate action.

Meanwhile, Amina BiB alleged that the police were asking her to patch up with the accused who was an influential person. She said that the accused was also involved in many other cases of kidney sale.
