KARACHI: Altaf asks UN, EU to help end aggression

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, July 30: Founder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned Israeli aggression on Lebanon and killing of hundreds of innocent civilians, including women and children and called upon the UN, European Union and the G-8 countries to intervene for an immediate ceasefire by Israel.

In a statement, Mr Hussain deplored the apathy of the world community, especially of the UN, over killing of innocent civilians in Israeli raids. He said that the fight was between Hezbollah and Israel, but civilians were being targeted by the Israeli military.

Mr Hussain said he was appealing to the UN, EU and G-8 countries because he believed they would act to end the fighting. He said he was not appealing to the OIC because its member states, like always, have maintained criminal silence.
