KARACHI, July 29: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday said that the crisis created by resignations submitted by his party’s ministers, advisers and special assistants from the federal and Sindh assemblies had been amicably resolved.
In a statement issued from the party’s London office, Mr Hussain said praised the action taken by President Gen Pervez Musharraf in resolving the political crisis. But he did not spell out how the matter was resolved and whether the demands of the party were accepted and on what terms.
In an earlier statement, he had hoped that the issue would be resolved amicably.
Meanwhile, the MQM coordination committee was in session to take stock of the situation.
“By calling an important meeting in Islamabad (on Tuesday) the president has proved that he is keen to settle the problems faced by the people,” the Muttahida chief said.
The MQM leader emphasized that MQM ministers and advisers had tendered their resignations to resolve the public issue and not for any other personal gains.
The MQM, he said, had full confidence in the president to reach a lasting and satisfactory solution of the present crisis.
He observed that the country was facing numerous problems and crisis and it was need of the hour that all issues were resolved through dialogue.
