QUETTA, July 29: The Balochistan government has sanctioned Rs291 million for repair of prisons in the province. This was informed at a meeting held here on Saturday.
Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai presided over the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, he stressed the need for accelerating the process of repair works and reforms in the prisons.
An official of the planning and development department told the meeting that Rs163 million of the amount approved for maintenance of the prisons had been utilised and the remaining would be released soon.
PPP LEADER: Balochistan People’s Party Parliamentarians secretary Bismiullah Khan Kakar was released on Saturday from the Quetta District Prison on the order of the Balochistan High Court.
He had been convicted by an accountability court in Quetta in a National Accountability Bureau case.
Hundreds of party leaders and workers had gathered outside the jail to receive Mr Kakar. They brought him in a procession to the Sarawan House.
Speaking on the occasion, party’s provincial president Nawabzada Lashkari Khan Raisani, Bismiullah Khan and Syed Sadullah Shah said excesses or registration of false cases against party leaders and workers could not separate them from the masses.
SEMINAR: Leaders of opposition parties have said use of force cannot resolve any issue because political issues can only be resolved politically through dialogues.
They were speaking at a seminar organised by the Jamaat-i-Islami at the Ayub Stadium here on Friday night. JI Naib Amir Prof Abdul Ghafoor presided over the seminar.
Prof Ghafoor held President Gen Pervez Musharraf responsible for the crisis in the country and warned that use of force against people would endanger the integrity of the country.
Balochistan National Party-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal said issues of Balochistan could be resolved by recognising the right of the Baloch people to control their resources.
He said the Baloch people would not give up their struggle due to excesses of security forces.
Maulana Abdul Haq Baloch of the JI said the fighting in Balochistan was over the unjust distribution of resources.
MNA Hafiz Hussain Ahmad of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F, Dr Hayee Baloch of the National Party, Amanullah Kanrani of the Jamhoori Watan Party, Arbab Zahir Kasi of the Awami National Party, Ayaz Mir and Maulana Abdul Haq Hashimi also spoke on the occasion.7
