Ex-Olympian to be interrogated on remarks

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, July 28: Senate and National Assembly's Standing Committees on Sports have decided to summon former hockey Olympian Naveed Alam for giving a press statement against the parliamentarians who had grilled the Pakistan Hockey Federation on poor performance of the team.

Naveed had reportedly threatened to take the non-technocrats, supposed to be the parliamentarians, to the Supreme Court and mobilise representatives of all districts affiliated with the Punjab Hockey Association against them.

Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee Rai Azizullah said on Friday: "We have taken a strong notice of the statement of Naveed and have decided to summon him before the joint committee," Rai Aziz said.
