PESHAWAR, July 28: Federal Political Affairs Minister and provincial Pakistan Muslim League President Ameer Muqam has said that the government will make every effort to rehabilitate the people affected by rain and flood in the Charsadda district.

Talking to the flood-hit people during a visit to Turangzai, Utmanzai and Umerzai areas on Friday, he said the district government had started a survey to assess losses besides providing tents and other relief items to the affected people.

The people of Gulabad and Umerzai complained about power supply. The minister directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to provide connection to the affected areas from the Bazaar side and build 11kv feeders immediately. He also asked the authorities of the Sui gas and PTCL to restore their systems in two days.

Earlier, Charsadda District Nazim Naseer Muhammad informed the minister that houses of 3,000 families had been destroyed by floodwater. He requested the federal government to provide compensation to the affected people forthwith.
