KARACHI, July 28: The City District Government Karachi has approved a Rs 31 million water supply scheme for Natha Khan Goth, Azimabad, New Iqbalabad, Tandoor Colony, Al-Haider Society, Rehmanabad No 1 and 2 and Sadaat Colony in UC-1 of Shah Faisal Town.

This was stated by Town Nazim, Mohammed Imran while talking to Councillors of UC-1 on Friday in connection with discussion on local development works.

He said that development works on the scheme will start soon whereby a pumping station will be constructed with the installation of two new water pumps.

He said not only UC-1 areas, but adjoining localities in UC-2 will also be benefited by this scheme and their water supply system will improve.

Imran pointed out that UC-1 areas of Iqbalabad, Azimabad and adjoining localities were earlier included in Cantonment Board Faisal but were excluded from the Cantonment area unilaterally.

He said the functionaries in the past paid no attention to their problems which multiplied with the passage of time and these areas remained without facilities including water supply and sewerage.

He said now Haq Parast leadership is initiating development schemes for providing basic facilities to these areas.

The carpeting of roads in the streets of Shanti Nagar, Union Council-7, Char Minaar Mosque, Kachi Para-1will be completed within two days.

A release of town municipal administration Gulshan Iqbal said the work is being expedited on the directives of Town Nazim Wasay Jalil.

The work on revamping of 30,000 square feet long roads is going on with a quick pace and Rs. 2 million would be spent on it.

Town Nazim Wasay Jalil accompanied by other official of town administration visited the site to inspect the work. He announced for setting up a new Eidgah with a cost of Rs. 1.3 million in Shanti Nagar on demand of the locals.

New Karachi town nazim Mohammad Hanif Soorti on Friday announced to provide all the union councils of the town with an ambulance there.

“A driver and a trained dispenser would also be provided along with ambulance to provide better medical facilities to the citizens,” the nazim announced in a meeting with the KWSB, Infrastructure Finance, Water Board and other administrative department heads convened on Friday to review pace of work on the ongoing uplift projects in New Karachi town.—PPI
