Bid cleared

MADRID, July 28: The Spanish energy regulator CNE on Friday cleared the way for the German energy group E.ON to pursue a controversial bid for electricity producer Endesa, but with a score of strings attached including a major asset disposal in nuclear power generation. The CNE approved E.ON’s 29.1 billion euro cash bid for Endesa, but promptly laid down conditions that could lead to legal challenges from the German utility. —AFP
