KARACHI, July 27: All cricket umpires supervising in Pakistan's domestic circuit 2006-07 will undergo eyes and ears test, a spokesman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Thursday.
The two-day PCB Umpires and Referees Refreshers Course for Sindh and Balochistan region in the upcoming season will commence at National Stadium on Tuesday. “It is a good decision by the board to test the eyes and ears of cricket umpires,” a senior Test cricketer said on condition of anonymity.
“There had been a lot of complaints against the local umpires of late. This medical examination will help in eliminating several umpires who are less than fit,” he said.
Former Test umpires Khizer Hayat and Mahboob Shah will conduct the course with another Test umpire Feroz Butt. Khizer Hayat has been appointed as Umpires Manager for the course. Thirty six Test, international, first class, grade-II and others umpires and seven match referees have been invited to attend the course.—APP
