SSGC in PFF Cup semis

LAHORE, July 27: Asif Ali’s match-winner helped Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) reach PFF Cup semi-finals after a 2-1 victory over Nushki at University of Agriculture Ground, Faisalabad on Thursday.

It was SSGC's second win in Group I. They had earlier defeated Mauripur Baloch 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Punjab Medical College. SSGC have now seven points after three matches.

The first half hardly saw any dangerous moves. After a barren first half, Nushki opened the scoring in the 58th minute through striker Shahbaz Ali.

Nushki, playing with packed defence, kept the winners at bay for no less then 20 minutes. Imran slotted home from the spot in the 78th minute following a handball in Nushki’s box to equalise.

SSGC went ahead just four minutes later when winger Asif cut in from right before slamming home into far corner with an angular drive.

Earlier, in Group-II, Dera Ismail Khan XI bounced back to draw 1-1 with Baloch Club.

Spearhead Mohammad Rafiq netted the opener for Baloch Club in the first half.

Dera Ismail Khan XI recovered and levelled the score in the 62nd minute into second session as Naveed Ahmad found the target from long range.

Pakistan Television (PTV) led Group II with four points followed by Dera XI (two points) and Baloch Club (one point).
