Shifting of colleges opposed

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, July 27: The Tribal Students’ Organisation held a protest demonstration here on Thursday against the plan to shift proposed medical and engineering colleges from Parachinar and Bajaur, respectively, to Peshawar.

Speaking to the protesters, TSO president Mir Afzal Khan Toori said former governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah had announced construction of the medical college in Parachinar but now it was being shifted to Peshawar. Similarly, the proposed engineering college in Bajaur was being shifted to Peshawar, he said.

“If the governor wants to shift the colleges from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, he should provide lodging and boarding facilities to the tribal students in Peshawar,” he said.

He demanded that postgraduate classes should be started at the government degree college, Parachinar.
