KARACHI: Libraries role Highlighted


KARACHI, July 27: Libraries are treasures of knowledge and technological advancement has made available amazing facilities as far as the process of teaching and research is concerned.

This was stated by the vice-chancellor of the University of Karachi, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui.

He was speaking at a workshop on 'Digitalization of libraries: a training course on the software of Winisis and Genisis'. The moot was held under the auspices of the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Karachi.

As many as 30 librarians from the Karachi University, other educational institutions and organisations are attending the four-day training course.

The vice-chancellor pointed out that Winisis and Genis would help the users acquire the latest information.

He exhorted the teachers and students of the department to learn the library administration techniques so as to effectively benefit from the treasures of knowledge.-—APP
