16 killed in Afghan copter crash

KABUL, July 27: All 16 people, including two Dutch soldiers, were killed when their helicopter crashed in bad weather conditions in southeast Afghanistan on Wednesday, military officials said on Thursday.

The civilian MI8 helicopter crashed into mountains in Paktia province.

“There were 16 people on board of multiple nationalities. There are no survivors,” US-led coalition spokesman Col Thomas Collins said. “Twelve of the 16 (bodies) have been recovered. There is no indication yet what caused the crash,” he said.—-AFP
