KARACHI, July 27: Shipping activity remained active at the port where three ships carrying containers and chemicals took berths at QICT and EVT during the last 24 hours, a PQA press release said here on Thursday.

Six ships -- Thuringia Express, MSC Aurora, Pos Dignity, Precious, Adrekni and Chem Adriatic -- were currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, sugar, canola seeds and chemicals.

A cargo volume of 47,796 tons comprising 26,190 tons import cargo and 21,606 tons export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,842 containers (TEUs) was handled during the last 24 hours.

Yanaseni and MSC Aurora departed, while Thuringia Express and Chem Adriatic are expected to sail out on Thursday.Bulk cargo carrier Dustia Naree is due to arrive at the port on Thursday, while CMC CGM Turkey, Maersk Peterhead, MSC Jamima and Warbah with, containers and diesel oil are due to arrive on Friday.
