ISLAMABAD, July 26: Pakistan on Wednesday condemned the targeting of the UN Observer Mission by Israeli forces in the southern Lebanon that killed four observers.

Islamabad again urged the international community to urgently step in to halt the attacks.

“We once again call upon the international community to intervene urgently to stop the attacks and facilitate a diplomatic solution to the crisis,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in a statement issued here.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the peacekeepers and their governments. We understand their anguish, as Pakistan is a leading contributor to the United Nations’ peacekeeping operations,” the spokesperson said.

She underlined that Pakistan had repeatedly called for immediate end to the current crisis arising out of the continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon that had claimed lives of hundreds of innocent civilians.
