3 die in separate incidents

RAWALPINDI, July 26: Three persons, including an 18-month-old girl, died in separate incidents on Wednesday. In the first incident, a man was killed and his younger brother injured by robbers in Tarnol.

Police said Ghulam Sabir and Ghulam Jaffar, brothers of I-9 SHO Ghulam Mohammad Baqir, were present in their house when a gang of robbers entered the building and held the inmates at gunpoint.

The robbers opened fire when the two men tried to overpower the culprits when they were snatching gold ornaments from the women.

As a result, Mr Jaffar died on the spot while Mr Sabir sustained bullet wounds.

Later, the dead and injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where Mr Sabir was said to be out of danger.

In another incident, an 18-month-old girl and her father were killed after falling in a water well in the jurisdiction of RA Bazaar police.

Amina Bibi was playing in the courtyard of her house when she fell into the well.

After finding the girl missing, a search was started during which her father Khurshid Ahmed spotted the girl on the surface of the well. He climbed down to rescue her but died of suffocation.

The bodies were pulled out from the well by the rescuers.

Vehicles stolen: Six vehicles were taken away in different parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad during the last 24 hours.

Khalid Mehmood’s car (RL-914) was stolen from the New Town area, Mohammad Ibrahim’s car (HK-883) was taken away from the Civil Lines area while Mohammad Fayyaz told the police that his motorbike (RLD-7231) was stolen from outside his house.

Shahid Ali told the Margalla police that his motorbike (IDN- 7265) was stolen from the parking area of Shah Faisal mosque while two cars bearing registration numbers IDL-200 and LHX-8448 were stolen from the Kohsar police area on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, three robbers raided the house of a customs’ employee on Adiala Road and looted prize bonds, cash and gold ornaments.

Naseer Ahmed, a driver serving with customs, told the Saddar Bairooni police that three robbers entered his house and took his wife and children at gunpoint. They forced the inmates to give up cash and gold ornaments.

The robbers made off with prize bonds valuing at Rs150,000, Rs25000 in cash and gold ornaments whose value is yet to be ascertained.
