KARACHI: SESSI paid Rs4m to secured workers in June
KARACHI, July 26: The Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI) paid Rs 4.05 million to the secured workers and their families in June under different schemes of financial benefits.
This was stated in a meeting, presided over by SESSI Commissioner Rasool Bux Phulpoto here on Wednesday.
The SESSI commissioner reviewed matters relating to collection of social security contribution from industrial and other establishments and provision of the facilities to secured workers.
The commissioner directed the directorates to utilize all possible resources for enhancement of services facilitating more and more workers under the social security scheme.
Rasool Bux said the Sindh labour minister and chairman governing body SESSI Mohammad Adil Siddiqui was taking all possible steps to provide labourer class and their families, with sufficient medical and financial facilities.
“The secured workers are getting financial help through 25 pay-offices”, he said adding that 39 dispensaries, five medical centres and four big hospitals were also provided with advance medical equipment and expert doctors.
The meeting was told that social security department had paid Rs4.05 million to workers and their families during month of June.
These payments include Rs0.6 million as medical compensation, Rs 4.2 million as disability pension/gratuity, Rs 0.5 million as injury compensation during service, approximately Rs 0.3 million as compensation to the heirs, Rs 22,000 for pregnancy and Rs 46,000 in case of death. Besides, an amount of Rs 0.2 million had also been paid as special aid.
“Rs 70 million, under Social Security Contribution, had been received from 18,453 registered industrial and trade organizations, while the number of secured labourers was more than 3 million.
Regarding SESSI's medical services, the meeting was told that some 131,000 attendance had been recorded at out-door departments of Social Security's medical centres during month of June this year. Some 10339 patients were referred to the specialists, while 248 major surgeries were made at SESSI's hospitals.
Vice Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Awan, Medical Advisor Dr Muhammad Akram and others were also present.—PPI
