Israeli attacks condemned

KARACHI, July 25: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanon, killing over 380 civilians while the so-called “civilised world” remained a silent spectator, particularly Muslim rulers.

In a press release, the PFUJ appealed to the civil society, including journalists, human rights activists, trade unions, doctors and teachers, to raise their voice against the atrocities and called upon its affiliated unions to organise protest meetings, rallies and demonstrations against “what appeared to be the US-backed barbarism of the Israeli forces”, killing civilians, including women and children.

The victims include not only Muslims but followers of other religions too. “It’s a human tragedy committed by inhuman forces,” it said.

The PFUJ also criticised what it called the cold response of the Muslim rulers and bodies like the Organisation of Islamic Countries “which have become puppets in the hands of the US”.

It urged the government to call a joint session of parliament to discuss the issue.
