HYDERABAD: Teachers hold demo against ban on associations

HYDERABAD, July 25: The Sindh Employees Alliance has condemned the removal of alliance office-bearers Rafique Jarwar and Ghani Kumbhar from service and issuing of notices to SPLA leader Prof Liaquat Aziz and others.
At a meeting held here on Tuesday, SEA leaders said that the education minister could not stop struggle of the alliance.
Rafique Jarwar presided over the meeting.
The alliance leaders also railed at education minister’s PA Mansoor Qadir Junejo and dubbed him “a personal servant” of Dr Hameeda Khuhro.
The meeting resolved to continue the struggle.
In Hyderabad, a large number of teachers belonging to different teachers’ associations held a demonstration outside the press club in protest against the ban on teachers’ and employees’ associations.
Intizar Chhalgari, Zahir Mirza and Zamir Khan criticised the education bureaucracy for imposing the ban on employees’ associations.
They said that forming associations was their democratic and constitutional right and they would resist the ban.
They said that the protest movement would continue till dismissal orders of some teachers and issuing of show-cause notices to others were withdrawn.
NAWABSHAH: Members of the Sindh Employees Alliance took out a procession in protest against the Sindh government for banning associations and terminating services of employees.
Members of the Primary Teachers Association, All-Pakistan Clerks Association and Government Secondary Teachers Association participated in the rally.
The protesters carried banners and placards. They raised slogans against the Sindh government.
They observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.
Syed Mastan Shah, PTA Nawabshah president Saleem Zardari, Rao Raees, Kashif Noorani and Asghar Zardari condemned the ban on association.
They said that the act was undemocratic and they would continue struggle for the withdrawal of notification.
They condemned termination of PTA president Rafiq Jarwar.
The protesters were joined by MNA Dr Azra Pechuho and MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio of the People’s Party.
KHAIRPUR: The Teachers’ Employees Alliance took out a procession from Phool Bagh to Chhatti chowk in protest against ban on teachers’ unions.
Asadullah Memon and Noor Ahmed Khuhro led the protesters.
A large number of teachers participated in the procession.
They carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the government.
A large number of teachers observed a token hunger strike for about five hours at Chhatti chowk..
Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah along with party workers visited the hunger strike camp and expressed her solidarity with teachers.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Workers of the Sindh Employees Alliance took out a procession and observed token hunger strikes in Naushahro Feroze, Moro, Bhirya and Kandiaro towns in protest against ban on teachers’ associations.
Around 200 teachers, led by Ayoub Pathan and Nazar Mohammad Sehto, took out a procession in Naushahro Feroze and observed a token hunger strike for three hours.
In Moro, about 100 teachers, led by Pir Mazhar Hussain and Ali Murad Lanjar, took out a procession.
In Kandiaro, about 100 teachers took out a procession and observed a token hunger strike at Star chowk.
In Bhirya, 70 teachers staged a demonstration and observed a token hunger strike for three hours.
