KARACHI: Gulshan Town proposes raise in property tax
KARACHI, July 25: The Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town council has proposed raise in tax on immovable property in the town.
The town council, which met here on Tuesday with council convenor Shoaib Akhtar in the chair, adopted a resolution, proposing increase in tax rate on immovable property in the town.
The house also approved resolutions calling for provision and installation of streetlights and electric poles along Sardar Ali Sabri Road in UC-5 and supply of electricity in localities of UC-9 and 13.
The central control room and various complaints centres have started functioning round-the-clock in Shah Faisal Colony while work on cleaning of drains has almost been completed.
Town Naib Nazim, Ali Akbar, TMO, Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi, UC Nazims, Naib Nazims, Councilors besides representatives of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board accompanied the Town Nazim.
He directed the heads of all the departments of the Town Administration to ensure provision of public facilities in the rainy season without any interruption.
Any complaint in connection with rains may be registered at the Central Control Room set up in the Town Nazim's Secretariat on Phone No.9248648 or Fax No.9248647.
Meanwhile, development projects worth Rs 500 million are being executed in SITE Town, including mainly the construction of roads.
The under-construction roads include Manghopir Road, Banaras to Pirabad Road, Bara Board to Garden Bridge, Pirabad to Manghopir and a link road, d EDO Works, Syed Sarfaraz Shah informed the Nazim of SITE Town, Izharuddin Ahmed Khan during a meeting here.
It was informed that five new projects are also under- consideration which include construction of School Road in UC-6, Roads from Mewa Shah Graveyard to Bakra Piri in UC-3 and around the Graveyard, a road in Mianwali Colony in UC-9 and building of a road in UC-41. Besides this, a fly-over will be constructed at Banaras Chowk for which funding will be made by the Federal Government under Taamir- i-Karachi Programme.
A model park will also be established in UC-8 with Rs 18 million and process for acquisition of land for the purpose is in progress.
The town nazim directed the contractors to complete construction of Manghopir Road by August 10, as the project has already experienced inordinate delays.—PPI/APP
