KARACHI: Removal of filth along roads ordered


KARACHI, July 25: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to ensure proper disposal of filth and waste lifted from storm-water drains.

He issued the directive during his visit to rain drains and Nullahs on Monday night to inspect ongoing work on cleaning and desilting of storm-water drains in the city.

Mustafa Kamal paid a visit to cleaning work at Hijrat Colony nullah where filth lifted from it was lying along the road.

Residents of the locality told the nazim that they were facing problems due to the waste lying along the road. The city nazim on the spot contacted KWSB MD Brig Iftikhar Haider over cellphone and asked him to forthwith get the filth removed.

CONFERENCE: On the directive of city nazim, a conference is being organised on the topic of improvement of education standard in city government schools and setting up of model schools, on July 29 at Civic Centre seminar hall.The seminar will be participated by education committees of all the 18 towns of the city.

A committee, consisting of education experts and prominent citizens, has already been formed for monitoring of schools of city government and to work on model school project.—PPI/APP
