Suggestions sought to amend laws

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 24: President Pervez Musharraf has stressed the need for legislation to solve the problems of the masses, particularly women. He was speaking at a meeting held in Rawalpindi on Monday on bringing the laws in conformity with the teachings of the holy Quran and Sunnah and providing quick and inexpensive justice at the doorsteps of the people.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also attended the meeting.

It reviewed laws related to women that were not in accordance with the holy Quran and Sunnah.

It directed the authorities concerned to come up with suggestions for amendments to different laws to provide greater relief to people.

The prime minister said the law ministry was working in consultation with jurists and religious experts for amending various laws.

He said that once the drafts were ready, they would be presented before parliament for debate.
