‘Militant’ held

LAHORE, July 24: Intelligence agents on Monday detained a man who headed a camp for training fighters for the banned Lashkar-i-Tayyaba militant group, an intelligence official said.

Mohammed Shahbaz was taken into custody after agents driving a Pick-up truck intercepted a car carrying Shahbaz in a street in Lahore. Shahbaz was a member of Lashkar-i-Tayyaba but he severed links with the group in 2003 and set up an Islamic charity, Khairun Nas Trust, trust spokesman Mohammed Amir said. Amir said Shahbaz was picked up by men who were in plainclothes.—AP
